Park Entry Reservation System Ending Early
Yosemite National Park is ending the 2024 reservation season after this weekend (October 13); a reservation will not be required to drive into Yosemite for the remainder of 2024. The reservation requirement was planned to extend through October 27, but based on monitoring of visitor use patterns and impacts, the park is ending it a few weeks early. Yosemite will automatically issue refunds to anyone who has a peak-hours reservation that was valid after October 13.

Wawona Library Zip Books Project
·
We are excited to announce the Mariposa County Library has been awarded a grant from the California State Library to participate in Zip Books. The purpose of the Zip Books Project is to order patron requested material that is not currently owned by the Library, and get that material into patron's hands quickly.
We anticipate this program will be rolled out soon, pending award acceptance by the County Board of Supervisors.
Patrons will be able to ask the library to purchase books directly from Amazon that are NOT currently in the library collection. The books will be shipped to the patron's home, and will be treated like a normal library book. The patron will be responsible for bringing the book back to the library within 3 weeks. The book is then added to the library's collection or donated to our Friends of the Library group to sell to benefit the library.
This grant program helps the Library to meet the informational needs of residents by augmenting the Library’s material budget specifically for customer requests.
Stay tuned for more details on how this will work! We are very excited.

Wawona Hotel Closing
Beginning December 2, 2024, the historic Wawona Hotel within Yosemite National Park will close to allow the National Park Service (NPS) to conduct a comprehensive condition assessment on the hotel complex. The NPS recently undertook a roof replacement project on the main hotel building which revealed the need for more intensive investigation and assessment of the hotel.
Thank you!
