
R. Leslie “Les” Arnett died Feb. 25, 2023. R. Leslie “Les” Arnett was born on Nov. 3,1935, in Los Angeles, to Roy and Ruth Arnett.
He graduated from Alhambra High School, went to Occidental College before being accepted to USC Dental School, where he graduated in 1959.
He served in the U.S. Navy before joining in his father’s periodontal practice in Pasadena. He began teaching part-time at Loma Linda Dental School in 1964, received his Masters of Science degree in periodontics in 1968.
He carried on a full-time periodontal practice (in Pasadena, Arcadia and Sierra Madre) and taught part-time at Loma Linda Dental School until he went to full-time teaching in 2004, and made the move to Yucaipa. He was a born teacher and so enjoyed his time as professor at LLU, until he retired in 2016.
Les went home to be with his Lord and Savior and is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Linda; four children he cherished, Leslie Arnett (of Vermont), R.J. Arnett (of Sierra Madre), Roilyn Tyner (of Alpine), and Eddie Arnett (of Sierra Madre), his fellow Trojan son-in-law, Jimmy (of Alpine); and four grandchildren he adored; Richard Arnett, Alexandra Safford, Chase Tyner and Noelle Tyner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth Arnett, and his sister, Lois Ayles.
