​Blasting operation to slow Highway 41 traffic in Madera County
Caltrans building a passing lane north of Road 208

The California Department of Transportation will conduct daytime blasting operations on Highway 41 in Madera County beginning April 28.
Caltrans said it’s widening the highway to add a passing lane north of Road 208.
Blasting will continue each week on Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Caltrans said, and delays could last 20 to 30 minutes at a time. Up-to-date information on the operation will be broadcast through Caltrans’ Twitter page.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during the project hours.


Glacier Point Road in Yosemite National Park to Open Tomorrow, April 19, 2016

The Glacier Point Road in Yosemite National Park will open for the season to automobile traffic tomorrow, Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 9:00 a.m.

The Glacier Point Store will not be open, but it is anticipated to open in early May.  However, vault toilets will be available for visitors.

Bridalveil Creek Campground is closed, and will open for the season in the next several weeks. There is snow at most trailheads and on the trails. Visitors are urged to use caution when hiking. 
 
Visitors are urged to drive slowly and with caution, as wildlife may be present on or near the roadway.
 
The Tioga Road, the popular east-west crossing of the Sierra Nevada in the northern portion of Yosemite, remains closed at this time.  Currently, there is no anticipated opening date for the Tioga Road.

  4. Discuss and update vehicle insurance status, vehicle incident & needed vehicle maintenance for "Thing 1" and discuss future policy for vehicle incidents.
  5. Discuss hiring current part-time staff for summer hours to organize & develop curriculum, apply for grants & donations (Dollar Donation Grant, local, state & federal grants).

​                             Wawona Tree Removal


This past week many beetle infested trees were cut on East Bruce.  The government wood yard is full of trees cut in Wawona in the past few months!

 
​                                   End of Ski Season

Aramark's last day for public ski activities at Badger Pass will be Sunday, April 3rd. Starting Sunday, April 4th, the road will be accessible to Administrative Traffic only from Chinquapin to Badger and the gate will be locked accordingly.  The Glacier Point Road will be closed to all traffic from Badger, as Roads will begin their plowing operations. After plowing to Glacier Point, the road will remain closed as Roads performs necessary roadside/culvert maintenance.  (E. Scott)
